We’re currently in-between the full and new moon.
Did you know?…
Full disclosure/fun fact/FYI: washed out cool toned purple/grays is one of my most favorite areas of the color spectrum to play on when we’re talking about makeup. So you can probably guess how awesome I think the ‘Clover’ liquid lipstick by Anastasia is. This whole combination of cosmic glowy magnificence makes me feel like that iridescent sparkly ethereal being I’m always referencing — which is when I feel most like myself o b v i o u s l y.

I had the chance to do some behind-the-scenes photos for a Phoenix makeup artist/girlfriend of mine on a freelance job doing trial glam for a local fitness influencer who’s being featured on the cover of a romance novel that’s coming out soon. I never know where the wind is going to blow me but I’m so glad I ended up here on this day because I had a total blast. I mean….makeup, fitness, photography, and some good quality girl time on a Saturday? — Count me in like every single time please, thanks!
It’s my every intention to sit down sometime soon and start cranking out more interesting and creative looks again like I used to way back when — but life has just been happening so hardcore this last year and a half ((I hit fifteen countries in my passport, I took on more responsibility at my 9-5, and now I’m finally starting to get my toes wet in the wonderful world of freelance work)) and I just have n o t been able to achieve that goal yet…BUT SOON!
In the mean time, these softer and more simple (for me, anyway) looks are what I’ve been rocking on the everyday. Because we all know that a totally neutral eye with major winged liner and pretty much any lip color you want, is practically the easiest go-to look ever and will never do you wrong.

Happiest of F R I D A Z E to all of you most rad human beings out there. I’m super ready to relax this weekend and finish my book — but also to be really productive and tag along with a makeup artist friend on a freelance job to do some BTS photos for her social. I’m a Libra — balance is key ; )
But before the next two days get away from me, I wanted to share some of my current favs. Products that have become my everyday “reach-fors”, if you will. And yes — I’m calling them reach-fors because I’m tired of “go-tos”.
1. The Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
I was always kind of skeptical about all of the hype surrounding this product, but I think that’s just my personality. I’m skeptical of a lot of things initially. But the skepticism is just flat-out unwarranted in this case because this stuff is practically gold. 4-6 sprays and you’ll good to go for at least the next 10 hours. At. Least. This retails for $31 dollars at Ulta/Sephora — which in comparison to setting sprays by other brands like Nyx or Gerard Cosmetics is a tad pricey. BUT; if you’re looking for something that will truly hold makeup fresh and in-place for the duration of a full day, or if you want a really dependable finishing spray for your freelance kit, then I would absolutely recommend this product. It’s a game changer for sure.
2. ABH ‘Undressed’ Lip Gloss
I had been on the hunt for a good nude gloss for a while and wasn’t sure which one was going to be my next perfect match made in heaven for the longest time. Nudes are still a little tricky for me because of my super yellow and olive undertones so when “the right one” comes along, it’s almost impossible for me to pass up. This gloss did not disappoint. It’s too light (on me) to wear alone and with a totally bare face, but when paired on top of a good nude lipstick with full glam…pure perfection.
3. Nyx Cosmetics Pore Filler
I decided to give this $14 dollar pore filler a try because I love Nyx and didn’t feel like paying $31 dollars on the Benefit Porefessional. Again….balance. I’ve been using this in combination with #4 (on this list) as my priming combination for the last couple of weeks and so far so good! I definitely notice a difference in the size of my pores after my foundation and everything else go on and it doesn’t cause my makeup to separate during the day. It’s been a win for me thus far. Go Nyx!
4. Nyx Cosmetics Hydra Touch Primer
I normally just use organic fractionated coconut oil with a few drops of lavender and tea tree oil on my face before bed and again in the morning before work and that essentially acts as my “primer”. But I keep that in a glass bottle on my bathroom counter so if I forget to do it in the morning then I’m stuck at work with no primer and dry alligator-like skin from hell by mid afternoon. It isn’t cute. So I decided to pick this guy up! It hydrates my skin super well and doesn’t feel oily or like you have a thick layer of extra product under your foundation. I’ve been mixing this with the Pore Filler and really liking it. Not to mention a little bit goes a long way too so, there’s another win. Budget friendly and works great. I’d totally purchase this product again.
5. Nyx Cosmetics Total Control Drop Foundation
I bought this in a few different shades (because the color selection for this foundation is out of this world, for once!) and have been using it as my primary foundation ever since (the last month or so) and honestly, I am in love you guys. This formula is ridiculously light-weight and does not feel cakey whatsoever. Longevity is solid. Price is r i g h t. I also love how buildable and blendable it is. So the idea is that 1-2 drops is for more of a sheer coverage, 3-4 for medium to full coverage, and 5+ for full coverage. I can totally attest to this! The fewer drops you use, the more sheer the application looks. But if full coverage is your preference, then it’s totally achievable with this product, so it’s super versatile and can be used for just about anything. Each bottle retails for about $13.99 at Target.
So there you have it — all the face things I’m currently loving and why. Tell me what you guys can’t live without these days!
Korea was one of the best places I’ve ever been to in my entire life thus far. — Cannot wait to make it back one day.
AIRBNB F O R E V E R |
Starting with our AirBnb, the vibe in Seoul was pretty incredible right off the bat. We were traveling around the world during a time when there were some pretty crazy things going on in the United States, politically…and AirBnb actually housed (and possibly continues to do so) a number of refugees and their families completely free of charge — making them one of the most awesome companies I could’ve possibly chosen to do business with given the circumstance at the time. A time when actions speak and money talks, and where you choose to spend yours dollars actually carries weight and has been shown to have significant impact.
All personal reservations aside, there were so many other awesome things about this space. Some of which being that it came equipped with a washer, a dryer, a tiny balcony, and a fully functioning small kitchen! It may seem bananas to most people but we like to cook when we travel, so places with kitchens are always a win. Our hosts alsohooked it up with this stuffed animal mouse-bear thing AND a mi-fi — which made things like staying connected to the web, navigating, posting on social media etc. (while exploring a completely foreign country where you wouldn’t otherwise have any data connectivity without purchasing a SIM card) ridiculously convenient….HELLS YES!
THE F O O D |
I could probably talk for longer than I care to admit about the eats in Seoul but I’ll try to spare you. Just understand that it’s pretty life changing. ALSO, there was actually a surprising amount of options for me as a vegetarian! I definitely indulged. I tried a fried veggie rice noddle dumpling hot pocket thing from this awesome night market. I have no idea what it was but it was out of this world delicious. I ate all the fresh breakfast pastries from another cool market. Things like fresh apple cinnamon waffles and deep-fried powdered sugar donut holes. I ate noodles multiple days in a row. I mastered chopsticks for the first time!!!!!
Caleb has been trying (unsuccessfully) to teach me how to use chopsticks literally since we met. It seemed appropriate I finally learn almost 8 years later in South Korea, haha! The food is too good.
Yes. Seoul has a puppy cafe. This is not a drill. They exist. A real place where your typical dog lover can just go, order some caffeine, and bask in the magnificence that is puppy heaven. All kinds of breeds from Corgis to Golden Retrievers to Pomeranians — older dogs and little puppies — we’re literally talking doggy heaven. There is no cost, just the purchase of at least one drink. Make sure to hide your stuff in the cabinets under the table though, those fuzzy little butts will definitely rifle though your goodies if you’re not quick enough lol. I’m pretty sure I actually died and went to heaven this day. Just another reason why Korea is up there at the top of the list for most favorite country visited so far.
A D V E N T U R E |
Real life moment: We ran into a small snag the last day of our trip and missed our flight back to the States. Thankfully , my earth-mate is pretty much a points magician and we were able to catch an early flight back to the U.S. that next morning, at no out-of-pocket cash cost for airfare.
»(PSA: Caleb runs a pretty awesome travel blog and if you’re ever curious to know how we travel the world for next to nothing, definitely check it out H E R E)«
It gets a little tricky trying to keep a positive outlook when you find yourself in situations like that but honestly, things happen. Not everything goes according to the plan, which is why depending so heavily on plans is a dangerous game anyway, to be honest. It takes a lot of practice and adjusting…but I really believe that keeping a higher vibration during what would otherwise be a stressful or tense situation, can help change the entire outcome. Thoughts are energy; and the more we can be aware of what we’re filling the space with, the better – seriously.
So to anyone who thinks all of these travel adventures are without hiccups, now you know! ; )
Korea was so special. The people were ridiculously kind, and friendly, and would attempt all kinds of conversations with you regardless of the obvious language barrier. There is culture and history everywhere you look. The transportation is a breeze. This was an all-around amazing adventure.
Thanks for all the memories – until next time, Seoul ❤
Have you ever seen something so incredibly sparkly and stunning that it took your breath away the second your eyes made contact and you actually gasped out loud the first time you saw it? Because same…
I can’t explain it and I know how extra it all sounds but honestly, that’s what happened here. Don’t misunderstand me — I have followed the insanely talented makeup artist for quite some time now, and am always in awe of the intensity of her products and all of the artistry/imagery that go into the ads and brand aesthetic. But this was my first purchase with the company. Normally I can restrain, but this was different. I saw the very first campaign for this collection on Instagram; a video montage of Kim Kardashian West rocking her signature brown/black smokey eye, wearing shadows and the lid gloss from the Ultra Suede kit.
I basically died right then and there.
A week later this bad boy was at my door step. Because spending years learning how to master self-control just to throw it all out the window in a moment of radiating shimmery weakness is one of my favorite past times.
I’m kidding —
It’s okay to splurge sometimes.

I won’t go into a bunch of detail about how awesome, creamy, buttery, gorgeous and sparkly these pigments are because let’s be honest, deep down — you already know. All I will tell you is that when you add that Cyber Clear gloss over the black pigment, it’s practically like a glittering galaxy-like explosion all over your eyeballs — pure magnificence. Cannot wait to create some magic!

If you haven’t at least heard about this product at this point, I’m just going to assume that you’ve been living under a rock — which is fine, because I can explain. When I first saw the reveal swatches for this new Spring ’17 lipstick shade, I instantly knew I would own it. Muted/grey lavenders are some of my absolute favorite lips colors to wear when I want to change things up and this color did not disappoint. Completely obsessed. All hail queen Anastasia, tbh.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY
Nicole Guerriero was one of the very first beauty vloggers I ever started watching on YouTube a few years ago when I really started getting into the artistry of makeup. I love her. I mean, she’s a Latina who [also] loves makeup, trap music, and Beyoncé with a passion — need I say more? I think not, thanks.
This palette of sparkly shimmery goodness is beyond fire. The icy pink shades are perfect, and give you a solid glow that can been seen from two planets away. If you are considering this item even just a little bit, I can fully attest that it is worth the hype. It’s gorgeous, it’s everything — and you probably need it in your collection if you’re a highlighting freak like I am.
